Invention, Ottmar Mergenthaler Linotype composing machine in 1886 is considered the greatest increase in printing since the development of movable type 400 years earlier.

Mergenthaler machine enabled one operator Machinist, composer, justifier, typefounder, and the type of distributor.

Since the machine was first used in 1886 by the New York Tribune, major design improvements were made. Probably more than 1,500 patents have been taken separately in relation to it.

Inventor Bio 
Born in Germany, Mergenthaler was a trained watch and clockmaker. He arrived in Baltimore in 1872 and began working their way into the store at the end of the partnership.

At the age of 32 years, designed and built his first Linotype machine. With it, the two operations of setting and type conversion in the lead lines were carried out simply by touching the keys of a table similar to a keyboard of a typewriter.
